Healthy to date (7/99) Date of Death: Cause of Death: Comments: A raw-boned, well-muscled and totally male dog who stands 19" tall and weighs 33 pounds. While long in back, he is short in loin and very high on leg. His tail is usually a single open loop as seen in the moving photo. He has an exquisite painted on rich toned coat. Willy's head fits him but is not the norm for the breed being heavier and somewhat blocky but with good plains, chiseling and cushions. He has beautiful eyes that are dark, correctly shaped, well set and expressive. He has large but well shaped ears that uses with much animation. A well angulated dog with movement coming good but going away could be better. He moves with elegant extended reach and drive. Nice compact semi-oval feet.  In personality Willy is full of enthusiasm and generally happy unless his role as pack leader is questioned. He greets all humans with a wagging tail and is confident in new situations with someone he trusts, otherwise he is tentative. He verbalizes his pleasure and displeasures with many different vocalizations. He is not an escape artist but will take advantage of an open gate. he is very alert and protective of his own and an excellent hunter. Among Willy's idiosyncracies, he shows great affection for the opposite sex, but refuses to "do the deed" in front of prying eyes. Another is that unlike dogs who circle before they lay down, Willy bounces on his front feet in a circle to create the perfect bed.
