302 Movement

Kinte Cloth

This study aid illustrates the side-view trot of a variety of real basenjis taken from old, amateur videos.

Do the dogs at shows move by so quickly that you can't evaluate their movement? In this section on movement you can compare them standing, still movement photos and on video. Both slow and full speed action is shown. You can see the various steps in their movement and the quality of movement produced overall at the trot. Each dog has its own strengths and weaknesses; use the Basenji breed standard and the sets of stills and videos to evaluate them.

Six examples of dogs trotting in profile.
