Official Ballot Results to Reopen the Stud Book and Allow Brindles

Dear Mr. Crowley,

In September of 1988 I counted the votes of the members of the Basenjis Club of America for having the American Kennel Club open the Stud Book to allow African Basenjis to be registered by the American Kennel Club and I also counted the votes for the new Basenji standard that included a revision that would allow Brindle to be an accepted color. The results of the voting follows:

Votes AGAINST opening the Stud Book: 89
Percentage of FOR votes:73.7%
Percentage of AGAINST votes:26.3%

revision that would allow Brindle to be an accepted color:351

Disallowed because of mailed late: 3
Actual votes counted:347
Votes FOR allowing brindle:234
Votes AGAINST allowing brindle:113
Percentage of FOR votes:67.4%
